In 1912, the Mint produced the first distinctly Canadian gold coins in denominations of five and ten dollars. This five ounce pure gold collectable coin replicates the original design of these first coins, featuring the word “Canada,” leafy maple branches, and the shield from Canada’s Coat of Arms. The short-lived coins disappeared from circulation in 1914 when the First World War prompted citizens and banks to hold onto this precious metal.
All collectable coins have been previously owned. Conditions will vary.
