This 22 karat gold collectable coin celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Canadian flag. In 1964, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson appointed a special committee to create a new Canadian flag. The proposed design incorporated a stylized red maple leaf on a white background flanked by two red bars. The distinctive national flag of Canada was officially unfurled for the first time on February 15, 1965.
