The first steam locomotive built in Canada was completed in 1853 by Toronto Locomotive Works (TLW). Aptly named Toronto, the engineweighed 29 tons and stretched eight metres in length. This fine silver collectable coin brings this historic train to life and features a hologram effect. While it’s small by today’s standards, the engine was considered gigantic at the time. After completion, theTorontowas on public display on Queen Street for two days before moving down to Front Street, where the closest railroad was located.
