This 14 karat collectable gold coin brings the original design of the 1900 shinplaster note. The 25-cent fractional "shinplaster" note was originally introduced in 1870 as a temporary issue while the Dominion of Canada waited for new silver coins to arrive from the Royal Mint in London. This temporary issue, featuring an image of Britannia, the patron goddess of early British Celtic tribes, was so popular that it remained in circulation for 65 years.
All collectable coins have been previously owned. Conditions will vary.
