This fine silver collectable coin features two tall brigantine ships in full hologram effect as they sail in front of Purdy's Wharf at the port of Halifax. The brigantine was a popular sight at sea during the "Golden Age of Sail." This two-masted ship was square-rigged, which allowed the ship to take advantage of steady trade winds and currents. This design made the brigantine ideal for coastal sailing where winds are more variable. It was an effective ship for the seal hunt and also as a trade vessel to the West Indies and Brazil.
