The seven stars that make up the Big Dipper are arguably one of the most recognized formations in the night sky. Many Indigenous legends describe the Big Dipper as a great bear who is hunted ceaselessly by three hunters. This fine silver collectable coin illustrates in full colour the Plains Ojibwa hunters as they tracked the bear across the earth, and bravely followed it into the sky. The design showcases the hunters’ impressive traditional Saulteaux dress, complete with imposing face paint, weaponry, and ceremonial shield with bear claw motif. The stars making up the Big Dipper are enhanced with a glow in the dark effect.
