This fine silver collectable coin features the now extinct Styracosaurus, an imposing rhino-like dinosaur that lived in Alberta roughly 75 million years ago. With six horns and a prominent neck frill, it was a herbivore, feasting on the lush vegetation that grew in the subtropical forests of the time. The first Styracosaurus fossils werefound in 1913 in modern-day Dinosaur Provincial Park, and the discovery of hundreds of fossils in the same bone bed has led palaeontologists to believe this "spiked lizard" lived in large herds that were wiped out by coastal floods.
