After exploring the South Pacific and crossing the Antarctic Circle in his first two voyages, Captain James Cook (1728-1779) turned his attention to the north for his third epic voyage, setting sail for the fabled Northwest Passage. This fine silver collectable coin with gold plating commemorates Cook’s historic arrival on the west coast of present-day Vancouver Island in 1778, near Yuquot, the summer home of the Mowachhat people.
