A number of grotesques and gargoyles add fanciful flair to the outer walls of the Peace Tower. This ten ounce fine silver collectable coin features one of the keepers of parliament, the Beaver, enhanced with gold plating. From atop the Centre Block's arched entryway, Castor canadensis extends a uniquely Canadian welcome to all who stand at the base of the Peace Tower. This special seat of honour is indicative of the beaver's special significance, for few other species invoke the spirit of our wilderness and embody more than 300 years of history, exploration, and industry.
