This pure gold collectable coin celebrates early Canadian history and the birth of New France. Established in the early 17th century, New France was the territory colonized by France in North America, beginning with the exploration of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence by Jacques Cartier in 1534 and ending with the cession of New France to Great Britan and Spain in 1763 under the Treaty of Paris. The coin features Louis Hébert, an apothecary and an agriculturalist who served as the colony’s physician and surgeon. He was the first European in New France to support himself by farming, established its first seigneurie, and was also appointed King’s Attorney by Champlain.
All collectable coins have been previously owned. Conditions will vary.
